Information from the music school on the Corona epidemic

Status: Monday, March 30, 2020 at 6:50 pm

We have to inform you that the lessons in the rooms of our music school will be stopped from Wednesday, 18.3.2020 and switched to digital learning as far as possible.

The basis for this decision is the agreement between the federal government and the heads of government of the federal states in view of the corona epidemic in Germany on 16.3.2020.

We offer our instrumental and singing lessons from 18.3.2020 via video telephony. If it is possible and you would like to make use of that mean of communication, no lesson has to be cancelled.

Alternatively, our teachers are required to provide the pupils with weekly musical learning and work assignments, preferably during their regular teaching hours. In addition to this, your teacher will contact you as to what extent this can be arranged in individual cases.

Likewise, the groups in the subjects “Early Musical Education” and “Music with Parents and Infants” are regularly provided with appropriate instructional videos by their teachers.

Unfortunately, lessons in the subject ” Instrumental Diversity” have to be cancelled. We will offer alternative dates as soon as possible.

If you would like to arrange a trial lesson, which is currently only possible via video telephony, please contact our office by phone or e-mail. Additionally, for the time following the pandemic, appointments for a free trial lesson can already be made.

We will publish current changes to our situation here.

We hope you will understand these measures.

Let us go through this challenge together and stay healthy.

The music school Bertheau & Morgenstern combines the joy of making music with a high professional level of education. It is not every students intention to become a concert soloist. However, all students receive a high-quality education that is oriented on everyone’s own wishes and possibilities.

In Potsdam and the surrounding area, as well as in Falkensee and Berlin, lessons are given by almost 170 teachers who earned corresponding university diplomas.

In the popularity ranking of the subjects, piano and guitar lessons occupy the leading positions. However, the offer includes almost all instruments as well as singing lessons. This wide range makes it possible to make use of the learned skills and to participate in music ensembles of the music school Bertheau & Morgenstern. Starting with early musical education which is offered in many nursery schools and the music school itself, all pupils regularly perform in student concerts.
